A Beautiful Garden Is Just A Few Helpful Tips Away!

Learn some tips to assist you in cultivating a beautiful garden for your personal enjoyment, your business or your family. Don’t waste money on equipment, plants or seeds without first figuring out exactly what you need.

Utilize your garden tool handles as convenient makeshift rulers. Larger handled tools like rakes, hoes, and shovels make great measuring sticks. Place the handles on the floor to measure the distance between them. With a permanent marker, note pertinent measurements on the tool handle. The next time you find yourself in your garden, you will have one large ruler right at your fingertips.

Try to keep your plants aerated and dry, every day. Damp leaves can lead to plant disease and parasites. A commonplace plant parasite is fungi. To control fungi, use a fungicide spray on the area before you notice any problems.

Fertilizer in the garden is a must. Manure can help your plants grow quickly, but you must use only commercially created products to reduce the chance of contracting pathogens. It is important that you use some sort of fertilizer, although it doesn’t really matter which variety you choose.

It is important to follow the instructions on your chemicals and tools closely, especially if you are new to gardening. Some of the chemicals in these products can cause skin irritation, or worse, if you fail to take this simple precaution. Be careful when it comes to your body, and always follow directions.

Your garden can really benefit from evergreens featuring berries. These year-round berries will give the rest of your yard a much-needed pop of color, especially in the winter. A few examples that you could go with include the American Holly, the Winterberry, the American Cranberrybush, and the Common Snowberry.

Water your garden regularly and smartly. Put down the watering can or garden hose, and spread out a time-saving soaker hose instead. Use a low water pressure to avoid damaging tender plants. Watering your garden for a couple hours while you are working on other tasks is an efficient use of your time.

Heather can be planted to attract useful insects. Heather is desirable to bees; when heather emerges in early spring, it can be a source of nectar. Beds of heather are largely undisturbed and make a perfect living space for spiders, beetles and a variety of other beneficial tenants. Because of this, don’t forget to protect your hands when pruning heather beds.

It only requires some research, lots of outside work, and a large amount of patience. All the work will be worthwhile, when you experience the satisfaction of a thriving garden established by your own effort.
