Don’t Have A Green Thumb? Follow This Advice And You Soon Will!

There are so many natural alternatives available to you if you want to turn your garden organic. In order to use these methods, all you have to do is learn a little bit about them.

Use annuals and biennials to brighten your flower garden. These fast growing flowers let you change how your flower bed looks season to season. In addition, you might need something to fill empty spaces in your flower garden. Fill gaps with annuals or biennials. Just make sure the flowers will get enough sun to thrive. Notable biennials and annuals include marigold, sunflowers, hollyhock, petunia, and cosmos.

A good but unusual organic solution for weeding your plants is try “boiling” your weeds way. Considering that boiling water is rather safe, you don’t have to worry about toxins in your soil or at your dinner table. Pour the boiling water directly onto the weeds, just make sure you do not damage the nearby plants. Boiling water is not good for the weed roots and will stunt further growth.

It is best to aerate and dry your plants daily. Parasites are attracted to the moisture on plants. Fungus is a common problem when plants are allowed to remain damp. Fungicidal spray treatments can contain fungi, but spraying prior to problems even developing in the first place is the best way to go about it.

If you would love to have access to fresh and healthy mint leaves from your own back yard, but dread the way the plant spreads so quickly, worry not. That’s why it’s better to place mint in containers rather than letting it have free rein in your garden. Then, you can plant the container into the ground. However, the container walls will keep the roots held, and prevent the plant from consuming too much of your garden space.

Think about adding some berry-producing evergreens to your landscaping. They will provide a splash of color in the drab and dreary winter months when a lot of other plants have lost their colors. A few examples that you could go with include the American Holly, the Winterberry, the American Cranberrybush, and the Common Snowberry.

Invest in a quality wheelbarrow and a kneeling stool if gardening work is going to happen often. Using a large portion of your time near or on the ground working on your garden puts a huge strain on your knees; therefore, having a portable, lightweight garden stool will greatly assist you in making gardening easier on them. Gardening involves moving heavy objects and dirt, so a wheelbarrow makes for a wise investment.

When landscaping and gardening in autumn, choose plants and trees with vibrant colors. That need not be the case though! The brightest season of the year when it comes to foliage is fall. Maple trees produce yellow and red leaves, just like Beech and Dogwood trees. Shrubs such as barberry, cotoneaster and hydrangea all have gorgeous fall foliage.

Anybody can grow a garden, but those who bother to understand what they’re doing will be the only ones to reap rich rewards from their crop. Make use of these organic gardening tips.
