You could try to boil weeds if you are trying to remain organic. Boiling water is a very safe alternative to other potent herbicides. All you need to do is apply boiling water right to the weeds you want to get rid of. Be careful not to get any on the plants you want to keep. The boiling water will damage the roots of the weeds and will usually prevent further growth.

It is possible to use natural materials as well as other plants to help keep pests away from your garden. Planting marigolds or onions around the border of your garden will repel slugs. Mulch around the bottom of trees and shrub seedlings with wood ash to reduce unwanted infestation of pests. You will be able to stay away from harsh chemical based pesticides by incorporating these techniques into your gardening.

Invest in a quality wheelbarrow and a kneeling stool if gardening work is going to happen often. You can make gardening much more comfortable on your knees by using a portable garden stool. A wheelbarrow will come in handy to easily move dirt, rocks and other heavy objects.

Don’t use broad-spectrum pesticidal products anywhere in your gardening area. These pesticides will kill every type of pest in your garden, including beneficial bugs that eat garden pests. The helpful insects in your garden can be highly sensitive to pesticides and if their population goes down, the harmful insect population will grow. This can lead to needing even more pesticides to eliminate the problem insects.

Working in your garden is an excellent way to relax yourself. There are many ways to find personal relaxation and peace. Working in the garden is among the simplest. It does not have a large start-up cost and yields many returns. Great satisfaction will come from raising produce and flowers in your own environment.
