Keep A Great Garden With These Tips

Gardening is more than decorating your yard. Anyone can enjoy this hobby from an amateur to someone with a very green thumb. Gardening can be a meditative activity, one that cements your appreciation of life, and one that even instills the gardener with a sense of peace and tranquility. When one is good at gardening, the rewards are outstanding.

A great gardening tip to use is to always select types of plants that are more likely to produce a high yield. A plant that is resistant to disease, or one that is tolerant of extreme weather, will deliver a higher yield.

If you start to notice some powdery mildew growing on your plants, there is no need to waste money on expensive chemicals. Mix a solution of baking soda, water, and a tiny bit of dishwashing liquid. Then, spray this mixture onto all of your infected plants once each week till the mildew is gone. Your plants will not be harmed by the baking soda, but the mildew will definitely not like it!

Transplanting plants and bringing them indoors can protect them from harsh winters. Think about saving your resistant plants or the expensive ones. Be careful not to damage the root system as you dig up the plant, and place it in a pot.

Always take the time to get the weeds out of your garden. Weeds can take over a healthy garden faster than you think. To do this, think about using white vinegar. Yes, white vinegar actually kills weeds! Put some white vinegar in a spray bottle, and spray directly on weeds. If you don’t want to pull weeds out by hand anymore, give vinegar a try.

If you want your garden full of flowers spring through summer, plant bulbs. Bulbs are generally very simple to grow and hearty, as well; they will continue to grow for years. Plant bulbs that will bloom at various intervals to ensure beautiful flowers are growing in your garden all year long.

If your plants do not grown very tall, try buying some knee pads used for gardening. You will spend a lot of time on your knees while gardening, which can result in knee pain. Investing in a comfortable pair of knee pads made specifically for gardening can really reduce the pain you may feel from the pressure of being on your knees for extended periods.

Take what you learned from this article and bring your garden back to life. When you see your plants and flowers alive and flourishing, you will feel a sense of happiness that you helped to make that happen. Gardening can make your life much better than it is now, but you have to put int he effort. There’s no time like the present for getting started.
