All soil is not the same. You need to check the soil to make sure it’s the best for what you’re planting. Consider getting a soil analysis and working on enrichment techniques for giving your garden a vibrant and healthy environment. A lot of extension offices will offer this service and it is worth it so you know what your soil needs.

If you would like to have flowers in your garden that last through the spring and summer seasons, plant bulbs. Typically, bulbs are simple to grow, and they’ll grow every single year. Plant bulbs that will bloom at various intervals to ensure beautiful flowers are growing in your garden all year long.

When you grow veggies in a garden, you need to ensure they get at least six hours of good sunlight each day. Most members of the vegetable family need this minimum of light for proper growth. Some flowers have the same requirement for growth.

Deciduous shrubs need protection from the cold. If you’ve got tender shrubs which are potted, you need to protect them from cold weather. Try to tie the tops all together and cover them with a sheet, large piece of cloth, or blanket. This is a much better method, instead of putting the plastic wrap around the plant. It allows proper air circulation that can prevent rotting.

A set of knee pads is a great investment if your garden has a lot of low-growing plants. Your knees will take a beating if you spend a great deal of time on the ground while tending your garden. Having a good pair of knee pads will cushion your knees in comfort.

Ensure that your plants are kept dry, and aerated daily. Excess moisture creates an appealing environment for disease and parasites. Fungi commonly afflict a number of plants. Fungi can be controlled with fungicide sprays, but it is important to treat your area with the spray, before you see any problems.

Avoid using broad-spectrum pesticides in your garden. In addition, these pesticides destroy the good insects which eat pests. Beneficial bugs are usually several orders more sensitive to the things you spray than the pests you are trying to kill, so you might wind up dropping the good bug populace and open the door to pest population growth. If this happens, you just fuel an expanding cycle of needing even more pesticides.

Always protect yourself from the sun when you are outdoors working in the garden; you can do this by wearing clothes that will shield you from the sun. Make sure you wear a wide brimmed hat along with sunglasses and plenty of sunscreen. If you shield your skin from the sun correctly, your risk of sunburn and cancers will go down.

If you are going for a British feel with your garden, then vary the heights of your plants. If you use plants that grow vertically at the same rate, you will end up with some flat, boring, uniform looking beds.

This isn’t as horrible as you thought, is it? Like anything else, gardening has a lot of information that can be learned and applied. Sometimes, you need a starting place. Hopefully, you received that from the above tips.
