Put sod down the right way. Before laying the sod, have your soil prepared. Pull all the weeds and loosen the soil so the new roots can take easily. When the soil is clean, pack it tightly and create a flat surface. Afterward, you want to make sure the soil is moistened. Lay the sod down in alternated rows, keeping the joints set off from one another. Sod should be firm and have an even, flat surface without gaps. After two weeks of daily watering, the sod should be rooted; at this time, it is now safe to walk on it.
To grow properly, plants need adequate levels of CO2. With a high level of CO2 plants will grow much better. The best way to get a lot of it is through a greenhouse. CO2 levels, when kept high, give your plants optimal growing conditions.
When you are tending your garden in the fall, be on the alert for stink bugs. These destructive pests enjoy many kinds of fruit, as well as beans, peppers and tomatoes. If you do not keep them under control, the damage can be excessive, so keep an eye out for them.
If you want your garden to blossom with flowers throughout the spring and summer, plant some bulbs in it. Planting and growing bulbs is very simple, and once planted the bulbs will grow for years. Keep in mind that different bulb types bloom differently and at different time periods, so when you choose a bulb plan accordingly, you can have your plant blooms lasting spring into summer.
If your soil has a problem with high alkaline levels, mixing in some coffee grounds that have been used is a great solution. Coffee grounds add acidity to the soil and are very cheap. The greens and vegetables need the proper balance and will grow bigger and stronger with the right mix.
For an unusual, but effective, organic solution to weeding young plants, try “boiling” the weeds away. The safest herbicide that you can probably find is a cup of boiling water. All you need to do is apply boiling water right to the weeds you want to get rid of. Be careful not to get any on the plants you want to keep. This can cause enough damage to the roots of any plant to kill it.
Research, hard work, and some dedication are the main requirements. When you see your garden flourish, you will feel a satisfying sense of accomplishment.
