Get a slug-proof variety of perennials. Your plants can be destroyed by slugs and snails overnight. Certain perennials that don’t have tough leaves are especially tasty to snails and slugs. There are, however, certain types of perennials that slugs and snails hate. Most of these varieties either have tough leaves or taste unappealing. Some of these plants include achillea, campanula, euphorbia, hellaborus, and heuchera.

Soak seeds overnight, preferably in a cool, dark place. Simply place a handful of seeds in a container, cover the seeds up with water, and stash it away. This will allow your seeds to be hydrated and get a head start when growing. The young plants will survive better, and get a boost toward maturity.

Fertilizer is important when you garden. One type of fertilizer that really helps plants grow is manure, but be sure to utilize a type that is commercially composted to reduce the chances of pathogens. There are a number of options for fertilizer, but the truth is that what you use is unimportant; you just have to remember to use something.

Give peas a head start by sprouting them indoors. If you give them a chance to grow indoors where they are protected, they will germinate better. The baby plants will also be stronger and will resist pests and disease better. Once they are strong enough, you can transplant them outside.

For visual interest, make one plant a focal point of your garden. In any great garden design, a good focal point captures the eye. Quite often a distinctive plant works well as a point of interest.

Spray old aftershave, perfume, or scented products around the grass of your garden to prevent your dog from entering it. Your dog will find more interesting scents to explore elsewhere and leave your garden alone.

When gardening outdoors, you must always wear sunscreen and appropriate attire; this will help to protect you from sun damage. There are many ways to protect yourself from the sun’s damaging rays such as wearing sunglasses, sunscreen and wide-brimmed hats. If you cover up from the sun, you are less likely to become burned or get skin cancer.

A mixture of aspirin and water can protect your plants from common diseases. You will need 2 gallons of water and one and one half aspirin mixed together for a wonderful add-on to your plants. You can just spray this on them to fight disease. Try to apply the mixture to the plants at least once in each three week period.

It should now be clear to you why so many people find organic gardening enjoyable. There is so much fun and relaxation to be had as one tries to make their garden grow properly. With the proper application of these suggestions, you will be achieving amazing results in your own organic garden in no time at all!
