Tending a garden is a relaxing past-time that can also serve as therapy. Without the right information, though, it can be confusing. Gardeners have to know not only how to do the actual gardening, but what tools and equipment are most useful. Spend some time relaxing in the sun, tending your garden.
Sod should be laid properly. You will need to prepare your lawn soil before laying the sod. Pull any weeds and break up any clods of soil. Lightly, but firmly pack the soil down, and make sure that it is flat. The soil should always receive adequate moisture. Be sure to stagger the rows of sod. The joints should be offset like bricks in a wall. Sod should be firm and have an even, flat surface without gaps. Sod has to be watered daily for two weeks, and then it can be rooted.
There’s no need for chemical intervention if you discover powdery mildew on leaves. Rather, you should mix a bit of baking soda with a small quantity of liquid soap in water. Spray this on your plants once a week until the mildew disappears. This is a natural solution for ridding your plants of mildew safely.
Cover the fences and walls with climbers. Climbing plants are known to be very versatile, and can help hide any ugly wall or fence, and this often only takes one growing season. They can cover an arbor, or grow through trees and shrubs. Some climbers will attach themselves to a support using twining stems or tendrils, while other varieties need to be held up by tying them in place. Trusted variations of climbers are honeysuckle, jasmine, clematis, wisteria and climbing roses.
Try to grow some wheat or cat grass around your cat’s favorite plants. Additionally, use your cat’s keen sense of smell to your advantage. Citrus fruit peels and mothballs both smell horrible to cats, so put them on the soil near the plants your cat likes to eat.
Don’t cut your grass too short! By leaving your grass a little higher off the ground, it give the roots a chance to grow deep into the soil which makes the lawn stronger, and that helps keep it from drying out. The shorter the grass is, the shorter the roots are, which leads to a dry lawn.
Coffee grounds can be used to amend soils that are high in alkaline. Coffee grounds contain plenty of acid to get the soil back to a good balance. After doing so, you will notice that your greenery and garden will be colorful and fresh.
