There is no need to purchase a costly chemical if your plants develop powdery mildew. Mix some baking soda and a very small amount of liquid soap into water. Spray this on the plants once per week until that mildew goes away. This mixture will not hurt your plants and it will eliminate the mildew slowly but efficiently.
Try using climber plants to cover up your fences and walls. Climbing plants can cover a wall after one growing season only. You can also use them in your landscape to cover an existing arbor, or allow them to climb up trees, or through shrubs. Some require ties attaching them to supports, but others will attach themselves to any surface nearby. Reliable varieties include wisteria, honeysuckle, climbing roses, clematis, and jasmine.
Ensure you have the proper soil for the plants you have selected. Depending on what type of plants you have, your soil may or may not be adapted. It can happen where one artificial area is designated to have just one type of soil.
Vegetables should be placed in a spot in your garden that will get about six hours of sun every day. Most vegetables need that much sun to grow rapidly and successfully. Some flowers need the same thing.
It is best to aerate and dry your plants daily. Damp leaves can lead to plant disease and parasites. A common parasite to plants is fungi. You can rid your garden of fungi with fungicidal sprays. However, it is best to treat your garden before there are problems.
Be sure to split the irises. The more you divide clusters of irises, the more your irises will multiply. You can do this by simply picking up bulbous irises once the foliage has withered. The bulbs should split naturally, and the replanted bulbs will usually flower within a year. Make use of a knife to split up rhizomes. Cut the center out of each rhizome but save the pieces. Every piece is suppose to have at least one durable offshoot. Replant your cuttings immediately for the best results.
